BIJNOR: Amroha police have busted gang which allegedly used to dupe people on the pretext of giving them government jobs and arrested one of the members on Tuesday.The arrested person was identified as Alimul Islam from West Bengal , who is residing in Shahpur Kala village of Hasanpur area in Amroha at present.Police said that the accused confessed to have duped several people to the tune of several lakhs. He also said that they have duped 15 unemployed persons of Rs 53 lakh so far.Amroha SP S K Singh said, “A man, Sulekh Chandra from Basaka Madaripur village, had filed a complaint against Alimul Islam and his accomplice Ashraf of Vasaka Madaripur village accusing him of taking Rs 4 lakh on October 22 last year for a government job at airport. They even issued a fake appointmet letter for the same. When he learned that the appointment order was fake, he contacted the accused and requested them to return the money. While Alimul Ismal was arrested on Tuesday, his accomplice is on the run,” he added.Detailing the modus operandi of the accused, the SP said, “The accused used to target unemployed persons and sought money for helping them find government jobs. They used to vanish after taking the money. We suspect that they targeted people across the country.”
