92 toilets, 200 sanitary pad incinerators sanctioned in Bijnor schools

We have received sanctioned reports, as per which, 92 toilets, 38 for boys and 54 for girls in primary and upper primary schools, will be constructed. However, it is good that the government stressed on cleanliness, sanctioning incinerators and extra toilets for boy and girl students.” Last year, 249 incinerators were set up in upper primary schools. These extra toilets will be built in schools where the number students is above 100. They already have toilets but will now have extra ones for boys and girls.”Beg added, “There are 765 upper primary schools in the district, in some of which 200 incinerators will be set up.

Bijnor: Bijnor schools which have more than 100 students will now have extra toilets (separate ones for boys and girls) as well as sanitary pad incinerators.According to officials, the education department had sent a proposal worth Rs 6.54 crore to the state project director in March, under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, for constructing a school at Narullapur Haphiz village, some boundary walls, solar hand-pumps and toilets etc. While construction of the school and boundary walls were not approved, 92 toilets and 200 incinerators in schools have been okayed.Construction of a toilet will cost Rs 61,000 while an incinerator will cost Rs 8,000. Giving details, district coordinator of SSA, Salem Beg said, “We had sent some proposals to the state project director under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan. We have received sanctioned reports, as per which, 92 toilets, 38 for boys and 54 for girls in primary and upper primary schools, will be constructed. These extra toilets will be built in schools where the number students is above 100. They already have toilets but will now have extra ones for boys and girls.”Beg added, “There are 765 upper primary schools in the district, in some of which 200 incinerators will be set up. Last year, 249 incinerators were set up in upper primary schools. Due to non-availability of incinerators, girls had to face a lot of awkwardness because of non-availability of incinerators.” Beg said that they had not yet received funds for the project.Talking to TOI, the leader of teachers’ association, Dushyant Kumar, said, “A meagre budget has been sanctioned for developing the infrastructure of basic education. However, it is good that the government stressed on cleanliness, sanctioning incinerators and extra toilets for boy and girl students.”
