Meerut: A father-son duo was allegedly shot at by unidentified persons while they were sleeping at home in Amroha’s Raipur Kala village in the wee hours of Sunday. Police suspect property dispute was the reason behind the murder.The victims were identified as Mohammed Naushad (35) and his son Noor Mohammed (10). While Naushad died on the spot, Mohammed was rushed to the nearest medical facility.Based on a complaint, police have registered a case against three persons, including a property dealer Masood from Chakali of Amroha, under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC.According to sources, the victims were sleeping on the terrace when some unidentified persons barged into the house and started firing indiscriminately at them. While Naushad died on the spot, Mohammed sustained injuries on the leg and is undergoing treatment in a hospital where his condition is said to be out of danger.The family members of the victims have claimed that Masood murdered Naushad over a property dispute.According to police, Naushad wanted to sell his land to Masood and had taken advance amount for it. However, as he refused to sell the land later, the property dealer shot him dead, they added.Rajeev Kumar Singh, Amroha Dehat station house officer, said, “The assailants pumped around four bullets into Naushad’s body. However, the exact number of bullets can be confirmed only after the autopsy. His son has sustained injuries on the leg and is recuperating at present. We are investigating the case and will arrest all accused soon.”Talking to TOI over phone, Masood claimed that he was being framed in a false case. “Even though I had given some advance amount to Naushad to buy his land, he later refused to sell it. However, I did not kill him. I am being trapped,” said Masood.
