Bijnor: Ajmal alias Pahari, a member of the notorious Nafees Kalia gang and who had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, was arrested by a team of Ghaziabad crime branch officers on Saturday evening. A seasoned criminal, Ajmal hails from Sarvar gate in Muzaffarnagar district. He was the mastermind in many sensational killings and extortions, including demanding money from BJP leader Bindu Sarraf. According to police, local BSP leader Ehsan, associated with Ajmal, was also arrested on late Saturday night from Najibabad.Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Ghaziabad, Vaibhav Krishna, said, “Ajmal was arrested from Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad following a tip-off.”Giving more details, circle officer of Najibabad, Arun Kumar Singh, said, “There are around 10 cases of extortion and murder against Ajmal. He carried a bounty of Rs 25,000 earlier, which was increased to Rs 50,000 some 15 days ago. In October last year, he had demanded Rs 10 lakh from BJP leader Bindu Sarraf. She had filed a case against him in 2017.”Singh further said, “Ajmal is married to a woman in Najibabad of Bijnor district. His father-in-law worked in the house of BSP leader Ehsan as a cook. This was how Ajmal had come came in contact with Ehsan. He was also a contract killer and an accused in the murder of a local doctor, Shamshad, in 2012. He was arrested but granted jail later.”Bijnor police also claimed that Ajmal was associated with Vakeel, who had shot at an AAP MLA at Delhi.
