MUZAFFARNAGAR: An 18-year-old youth in UP’s Muzaffarnagar was booked and arrested on Thursday evening after he allegedly raped his 85-year-old grand-aunt. According to police, the youth, in an inebriated state, raped the elderly woman when she was alone at home in a village of Muzaffarnagar’s Budhana area on Thursday.A family member of the survivor told TOI: “He (the accused) fled from the house after the incident. When we reached house, our grandmother narrated the incident after which we went to police station.”The police registered an FIR and arrested the youth. And the elderly woman was sent to government district hospital for medical examination, a police officer said, adding that its report is awaited.Station house officer (SHO) of Budhana police station, Prabhakar Kenthura, said: “A case under IPC section 376 ( rape ) has been registered. The accused was also arrested later. Further investigation is on into the matter. We are also waiting for medical examination report.”Meanwhile, superintendent of police (rural) Alok Sharma said, “The accused is a family member of the survivor, and was inebriated at the time of crime.”
