261 UP schools didn’t serve midday meals for 3 months, BSAs rapped

Meerut: As many as 261 UP government schools across 24 districts of the state did not provide midday meals to their students for three months. Details to the effect were submitted by the state districts on the midday meal scheme website. Taking a stern stand against the issue, state education department has issued instructions to basic shiksha adhikaris (BSA) concerned that they either resume distribution of midday meals at these schools or face action.“This is to bring to your notice that it has come to our fore from the midday meal scheme website that as many as 261 schools did not distribute midday meals to its students for three months. Otherwise, you will be deemed responsible for the irregularity,” read Singh’s order.

Taking a stern stand against the issue, state education department has issued instructions to basic shiksha adhikaris (BSA) concerned that they either resume distribution of midday meals at these schools or face action.“This is to bring to your notice that it has come to our fore from the midday meal scheme website that as many as 261 schools did not distribute midday meals to its students for three months. From September 1, 2018 to November 30, 2018, no midday meal was distributed among the students at these schools,” read the order issued by Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur Singh, UP education director (basic).The 261 schools in question are in Agra, Aligarh, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Auraiya, Azamgarh, Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Balrampur, Banda, Barabanki, Bareilly, Basti, Bijnor, Bulandhshar, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Etah, Etawah, Faizabad and Ghaziabad.“These schools belong to 24 districts of the state, where such anomalies have been reported. You are instructed to see that midday meal is distributed in these 261 schools and the scheme is resumed here. Otherwise, you will be deemed responsible for the irregularity,” read Singh’s order.
