With 1.59L farmers, Bijnor tops list for PM Kisan dole scheme in UP

Bijnor: With the data of farmers being uploaded on state portal ahead of February 24, when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Gorakhpur, Bijnor has topped the list of districts with maximum names, followed by Prayagraj.In Bijnor, some 1.87 lakh farmers had uploaded their details on the portal and out of these, 1.59 lakh were found to be eligible for the scheme, said deputy director of agriculture, JP Chaudhary.Making a strong re-election pitch, the BJP-led central government had announced the Rs 6,000 annual cash dole to small farmer households having less than two hectares of agriculture land.Agriculture and revenue departments have been engaged to verify the farmers and shortlisting them. Besides the size of their agricultural holding, farmers also have to submit details of their mobile numbers, land record, aadhaar card and bank account — all of which are to fed on state-level Pardarshi Kisan Seva Yojana portal.Later, the data will be forwarded to the central PFMS (public finance management system) and then the money will be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.Giving details, deputy director of agriculture Chaudhary said, “Revenue department verifies the data given by farmers. After that, their data is uploaded on the online portal. The uploading work is in full swing across the state. So far, 56,66,888 farmers’ details have been fed in the state portal. Those who are tax payers or are getting a pension of more than Rs 10,000 per month will not be able to avail of the scheme.”Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the scheme for UP on February 24 in Gorakhpur. Authorities are on their toes to upload as much data as possible as the government wants that all farmers who are eligible for the scheme can avail of its benefits before the Lok Sabha polls.
