Just 5 days after marriage, youth shot dead at in-laws’ village

MEERUT: A youth was shot dead at his in-laws village just five days after he got married. Shailender Singh, 25, a resident of Samaspur village in Phalawada area of Meerut , had gone to attend a function at his in-laws’ village when the incident took place. As of now nothing is clear and there are various angles on which we are working on.” We asked them to stay back for the night but they left around 2 am on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in a Muzaffarnagar village.Police sources said that Singh got married to Shivani, a resident of Haidarnagar village of Muzaffarnagar on February 28.

While returning from his wife’s house, he was shot at in the chest by unidentified assailants.The cousin of the deceased was also hit with a heavy object in the head and he is stated to be critical. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in a Muzaffarnagar village.Police sources said that Singh got married to Shivani, a resident of Haidarnagar village of Muzaffarnagar on February 28. On Monday morning, Shivani had left for her paternal house for a ritual and then later in the day, Shailender along with his cousin Manish visited Haidernagar village to attend a wedding after which he also met his wife at her house and left from there in the early hours of Tuesday.However, as soon as his bike reached the main road, unidentified assailants shot him in the chest and Manish was hit with a heavy object in the head.While Shailender died on the spot, Manish was admitted to a local hospital and his condition is statted to be serious.Shailender’s brother-in-law, Sachin, who is the complainant in the case, said, “They came here late on Monday and over only for 30 minutes. We asked them to stay back for the night but they left around 2 am on Tuesday. Around 40 minutes later we got a call from Manish and we rushed to the spot where we saw my brother in-law dead and Manish was bleeding profusely from the head and shoulder.”Kshitij Kumar, station officer of Titawi police station, said, “An FIR has been registered against unknown assailants. As of now nothing is clear and there are various angles on which we are working on.”
