Wife, paramour behind newly-married man’s murder: Cops

Muzaffarnagar: Days after a newly-married youth was shot dead, a probe revealed that victim’s wife and her paramour were allegedly behind the murder . His wife had gone back to her maternal home after the marriage.While returning from his wife’s house, Shailender Singh was shot at in the chest. The woman and her cousin were in a relationship and unhappy with the marriage, police said. His cousin, Manish, who had accompanied him, was also hit with a heavy object in the head. Now, we are trying to find Shivani.”

The woman and her cousin were in a relationship and unhappy with the marriage, police said. While the man has been arrested, the woman is still at large.According to senior superintendent of police, Muzaffarnagar, Sudhir Kumar, “Main accused, Anuj, was arrested and a countrymade pistol with bullets which was used to commit the crime were seized from him. He has been sent to jail and further investigation is on.” The deceased’s wife, Shivani, is yet to be arrested.Giving details about the case, the SSP said five days after getting married in Muzaffarnagar, Shailender Singh (25), a resident of Samaspur village in Phalawada area of Meerut, had gone to attend a function at his in-laws’ Haiderpur village under Titavi police station. His wife had gone back to her maternal home after the marriage.While returning from his wife’s house, Shailender Singh was shot at in the chest. His cousin, Manish, who had accompanied him, was also hit with a heavy object in the head. His condition is stated to be critical. Anuj had followed the duo and attacked them in an isolated spot.Kshitij Kumar, SHO of Titavi police station, said, “A case under IPC section 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) has been registered. Now, we are trying to find Shivani.”
