If Balyan wins, he’ll be minister again: Uma Bharti

Muzaffarnagar: Launching BJP’s campaign on behalf of party nominee Sanjeev Balyan here on Sunday, BJP's senior leader Uma Bharti appealed to people to support the sitting MP Sanjeev Baliyan , saying if he won, he would be made a minister again. Muzaffarnagar will go to polls on April 11, the first phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.Addressing the gathering, Balyan said, “We brought ‘bhaichara’ in Muzaffarnagar. They only indulge in communalism.”Later, interacting with mediapersons, Bharti said strong action would be taken against those who attacked a Muslim family in Gurugram.On Congress leader Sam Pitroda's comment on Balakot strike, she said Congress and its president should apologize to the country. Now, you can see how much work has been done for the district. Before 2014, there was no law and order, people fought over petty things.

Now, you can see a big difference in what Muzaffarnagar was before 2014 and what it is now.”Lashing out at Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Bharti said she did not know the meaning of the word 'chowkidar' as watchmen work in villages for the security of the poor.Vadra had earlier said that 'chowkidars' (watchmen) of the saffron party were working only for the rich.Referring to the ‘Namami Gange’ programme, launched to clean up river Ganga, Bharti attacked Congress said, “Then PM Rajeev Gandhi could not block a drain discharging effluents into the Ganga in Kanpur. No one had done so since 1984 but we have blocked the drain. Now, Priyanka Vadra is trying to seek support for Congress by taking a boat ride in the Ganga.”She added that she decided not to contest the elections because “there is pending work of Ganga which I have to complete".The BJP leader, who has been appointed party vice-president, took on the Samajwadi Party- Bahujan Samaj Party combine in UP and said, “They have done nothing for Uttar Pradesh.
