M’ngr police seizes rectified spirit, urea used for making illicit liquor

Muzaffarnagar: Muzaffarnagar police has seized 1,600 litres of rectified spirit and urea used for making illicit liquor valued at about Rs 30 lakh in the market from A2Z colony here. Labels of branded liquor were also seized. A huge quantity of liquor and raw material were seized from the spot. Two persons involved in making illicit liquor were arrested.According to police sources, after getting a tip-off a team from Nai Mandi police station raided a house in A2Z colony on Monday and recovered a huge quantity of rectified spirit and equipment used for making illicit liquor.Denying any link between the seizure and the upcoming election, SP, city, Satpal Antil said, “Arrested accused were involved in making illegal liquor for the last several years. We are trying to find others involved in the business.

A case has been registered and the accused have been sent to jail.”Earlier on March 20, as many as eight people were arrested after Muzaffarnagar police raided an illicit liquor-making factory here and seized liquor bottles — some of them full — from the spot.Police sources said he liquor was being made to be supplied for Holi in the Civil Lines area. An FIR has been filed and investigation is on. After receiving a tip-off, crime branch sleuths, Swat and a police team from Civil Line police station raided a newly constructed house in Madeena Colony on Roorkee Road and nabbed eight people involved in manufacturing illegal liquor. A huge quantity of liquor and raw material were seized from the spot. Labels of branded liquor were also seized.
