Out to attend nature’s call, 80-year-old woman raped, assaulted

MUZAFFARNAGAR: An 80-year-old woman was allegedly raped and assaulted by a resident of her village when she had gone to relieve herself in a field.The woman suffered a fracture after she was thrashed by the accused in the incident that occurred on Wednesday in the village under the jurisdiction of Budhana police station in Muzaffarnagar . The accused also threatened the victim to not disclose the incident to anyone else she would have to face dire consequences.The octogenarian was rescued by villagers who heard her screams. He has been sent to jail and an investigation is underway.”The woman was admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment.Notably, in a similar incident reported from the region in December, last year, an 18-year-old youth was nabbed by the cops for allegedly raping his 85-year-old grandaunt. They also caught the man and handed him over to the police.Vijay Parkash, deputy superintendent of police, told TOI, "The accused, identified as Kallu (35), has been booked under various sections including 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
