Rice, wheat for black market seized, 3 held

We spotted three labourers loading a mini truck with sacks of wheat and rice from a ration dealer’s shop. Meerut: As many as 44 sacks containing 10 quintals of rice, and 12 quintals of wheat to be sold in the black market were seized by Meerut police on Monday night.The seizure was made when a police patrol team checked a mini truck in which three labourers were spotted loading the rice and wheat sacks from a ration dealer’s shop. Only when we get a nod in this regard from the SDM, we will be able to file an FIR. Since the documentation is underway, the three labourers will remain in our custody,” said Ojaswi.

The three labourers were also detained.RK Ojaswi, station officer, Behsuma police station, said, “The incident came to our notice when the police van was patrolling the area on Monday night. We spotted three labourers loading a mini truck with sacks of wheat and rice from a ration dealer’s shop. They were taking the PDS grains to a private flour mill or ration shop from where it would have been sold in the black market. We detained them and are investigating the matter.”The three labourers have been identified as Sonu, Monu and Saawan. Meanwhile, no FIR has been filed in the matter since the documentation is being completed by the supply inspector in this regard.“No FIR can be filed in the matter until the supply inspector gets documentation complete by submitting the report in this matter to the sub divisional magistrate. Only when we get a nod in this regard from the SDM, we will be able to file an FIR. Since the documentation is underway, the three labourers will remain in our custody,” said Ojaswi.
