Nagpur: The Income Tax Department on early Saturday morning conducted raids at four leading heart hospitals in city. The IT sleuths also gate-crashed on the residential premises of heart specialist doctors of the hospitals. The raid started at 7 am took the hospitals and doctors by surprise. The raiding Income Tax officers have reportedly stumbled on incriminating documents and cash as well. The action by 10 specially formed teams triggered panic in medical fraternity across the city. Sources in I-T Department said that the raids were conducted against Shrikrishna Heart Hospital, Neuron, Avanti and one more unidentified hospital. Residential premises of Dr Mahurkar, Dr Fulwani, Dr Giri and other are being scanned. All the raided hospitals and doctors are specialists in heart treatment. The sleuths suspect that the doctors were not showing their income in fair manner and the action was after having specific information of alleged tax evasion in crores. The raids were still going on at the time of filing this report.
