Nashik: Two people have been arrested by the Nashik city police on charge of possessing 12 kg of marijuana (ganja). The suspect duo were arrested on Monday. Police officer Vishal Deore from the crime branch unit 1 had received information from sources that someone was transporting marijuana in a car on the Adgaon-Mhasrul road, a police officer said.The information was passed on to senior police inspector Vijay Dhamal.A team was immediately formed and dispatched to the spot, the officer added.Upon checking the vehicle the police team found 12kg of marijuana kept in a plastic bag. The car driver has been identified as Rahul Raj Pawar. The police team have seized the marijuana, three cellphones and the car used by the suspect — all worth Rs 6.30 lakh. During interrogation Pawar said he had bought the stuff from Sarjerao Gaikwad who was a resident of Hirawadi in Panchavati.
