Police make 14th arrest in Samangaon drug case

Nashik: One more arrest was made by the city police in the Samangaon MD case on Tuesday — taking the total number of arrested suspects to 14.The suspect — identified as Umesh Suresh Wagh, a resident of Chunchale — is one of the main suspects in the case registered with the Nashik Road police. On September 7, the Nashik Road police had found a person carrying 12.5 grams of MD in the Samangaon area of Nashik Road.During the course of investigation, police arrested 13 people and recovered drugs worth Rs 11 crore.The suspects in the case were preparing the drug at a unit in Solapur and the manufacturing unit concerned has now been sealed by the police. All the accused were later booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Wagh was on the run ever since the case came to light. Over the past three months, he was hiding in Bangalore, Kerala, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, among others, a police officer said.Senior police inspector Vijay Dhamal on Monday received information that Wagh was hiding in Virar.
