Several tourism projects launched

Better amenitiesOn the spiritual tourism front, Sri Kokilambal Thirukameswarar temple, Villianur, is to be renovated at a cost of ?2.97 crore. Sugumaran and E. Theeppainthan and several officials participated in the foundation-laying ceremony for the projects. The project with a cost estimate of ?76.80 lakh features improvement of pathways, renovation of children’s play area and landscaping.

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao, Public Works Minister A. Namassivayam, MLAs A. Anbalagan, S.V. Sugumaran and E. Theeppainthan and several officials participated in the foundation-laying ceremony for the projects. One of the important initiatives pursued by the Tourism department through the Public Works department and with Central assistance is the extension of the beach from Grand Canal-New Light House up to Dubrayapet beach through the Vambakeerapalayam Road. The work is to be taken up at a cost of ?3 crore and would include development of pedestrian pathways, lighting and tree planting. The project is expected to be completed in eight months. Better amenities On the spiritual tourism front, Sri Kokilambal Thirukameswarar temple, Villianur, is to be renovated at a cost of ?2.97 crore. The work includes pathways, paved area, beautification of the pond and landscaping. The work is to be completed in 10 months. Sri Gangai Varaga Natheeswarar temple, Thirukanchi, is being renovated at a cost of ?4.13 crore by developing pathways, ghat construction along the river, change rooms, lighting, landscaping and a multi-purpose hall. The Phase-II of Oussudu Lake Development was launched on the occasion. The project with a cost estimate of ?76.80 lakh features improvement of pathways, renovation of children’s play area and landscaping. The work was expected to be completed in five months.
