Man suspected of involvement in 50 theft cases held

The Mudaliarpet police have arrested a man involved in several theft cases in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The police said he was involved in around 50 theft cases. He was taken into police custody for interrogation in theft cases. The police learnt about his involvement in theft cases during interrogation by the Special Task Force after he was arrested in connection with an attempt to murder case. The name of the accused was given as Ramesh, a resident of Kodaikanal.

The police said he was involved in around 50 theft cases. For the last few years, he had been living at Gandhi Thirunalloor near Kadirgamam here. The police learnt about his involvement in theft cases during interrogation by the Special Task Force after he was arrested in connection with an attempt to murder case. Police custody He was remanded in judicial custody in the attempt to murder case. He was taken into police custody for interrogation in theft cases. During sustained interrogation, he had reportedly confessed of his involvement in dacoity. According to Mudaliarpet police, the accused, along with Ganesh, a resident of Ottampattam near Theni, had stolen valuables from several houses in Theni, Madurai, Tiruchi in Tamil Nadu and looted three houses in Mudaliarpet in Puducherry. The police have seized 15 sovereigns of gold from his possession.
