Dr. V. S. Negi, Head, Department of Clinical Immunology at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (Jipmer), has been conferred the prestigious Dr. B C. Roy Award for 2017. A pioneer in the development of new clinical care paradigms in the field of clinical immunology, his efforts have resulted in the development of newer therapeutic modality of cell-based immunotherapy for immunological disorders. Apart from being a front runner in all spheres of medicine through patient care, teaching, research and social work, he has put clinical immunology in the country on the international stage through his innovations in patient care and network of research collaborations and a unique Cotutelle PhD programme, Jipmer said. According to a Jipmer press note, the professor was given the award “to recognise the best talents in encouraging the development of specialties in different branches of medicine.’’Dr. Negi is among the few clinician-scientists in India who has been an innovator in all aspects of medical fields.
