more-in The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will present a detailed report to the national executive of the party to be held on September 8 and 9 highlighting the “rampant corruption” prevailing in all departments of the Puducherry government, said BJP local unit president V. Saminathan. Mr. Saminathan told presspersons here on Sunday that the DMK, an alliance partner of the Congress, had alleged corruption in public sector undertakings (PSUs). The Narayanasamy government was an utter failure and had been functioning against the interest of all sections of people, including government employees. The government had failed to disburse salaries for the last six months to anganwadi workers and for more than two years to workers of government-owned undertakings, he said. Mr. Saminathan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come out with a massive project to ensure housing for all by 2020. But the Puducherry government was yet to acquire land to provide houses to around 70,000 homeless people in the Union Territory. This was because the functionaries of the Congress and its allies were engaged in real estate projects. Although the Centre had sanctioned funds for the housing project, the government had been dragging its feet on the issue. He alleged that land at Kuyilthoppu and another piece of land located near the Kannagi Government Girls Higher Secondary School had been garnered by an important political bigwig’s family. The BJP would stage a major demonstration shortly to retrieve the land since it was encroached upon.
