more-in The Villupuram West Police on Thursday arrested a functionary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Law Minister C.Ve. Shanmugam and his family. According to the police, Alauddin, AMMK Youth Wing Joint Secretary had posted objectionable comments against Mr. Shanmugam and his family on Facebook. The accused had posted a live stream video maligning the Minister and made offensive comments that were intended to threaten him. Based on a complaint lodged by AIADMK functionary Pasupathi, the Villupuam West Police arrested Alauddin and remanded him to custody. A case has been registered against him under Sections, including Section 153, Section 294 (b), Section 505 (false statements and rumours circulated to cause public mischief) and Section 506 part II (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.
