more-in The opposition AIADMK called upon the government to ensure the smooth admission of students into the first-year MBBS course in private medical colleges and Deemed Universities in the Union Territory in view of release of results of National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET). Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, AIADMK legislature party leader A. Anbalagan said that Puducherry had already witnessed several controversial developments in PG seats admission with the Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi making allegations against the Government and the latter coming out with clarifications. This should not happen in the admission of MBBS seats. The government should come out with proper arrangements, fix the fees and ensure that the students did not face any embarrassing situation. Unnecessary controversy Mr. Anbalagan said the UT had been hogging the limelight because of the controversies between the LG and the elected Ministry on PG seats admission. With the managements taking a negative stand, he wished the government understood this and made proper arrangements for hassle free admission. He wanted the Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy to take a delegation of all the MLAs of Puducherry and leaders of various political parties to Delhi to meet the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and draw his attention to the style of functioning of Ms. Bedi. Ms. Bedi had been interfering on several issues in the routine administration of Puducherry and the entire machinery was thrown out of gear. The Chief Minister should arrange for a delegation to Delhi to meet the home minister, he said. He alleged that an eight acre site in Villianur which was originally meant for acquisition by the previous AINRC Government to construct a Women’s college was now being grabbed by those who are politically influential and close to the powers that be. He said that the previous government had intervened when dispute arose between a few who made claims to the property. The then Chief Minister had announced that the site would be acquired for the college project.
