Viswanthan says GST has come at a time when Puducherry is reeling under severe financial crunch. | Photo Credit: S_S_KUMARThe Left parties and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) on Monday charged the Centre with rolling out Goods and Services Tax (GST) in an autocratic manner hitting traders as well as consumers in the Union Territory. As per statistics with the government, of the 18,000 traders, only 3,000 were doing business above ?1.5 crore per annum. But the Centre and the Puducherry government had been forcing the remaining traders to join the new regime. Industrialists had not been able to start enterprises in the Union Territory and they were functioning were on the way out.
