AIADMK demands clarification from CM on row with Kiran Bedi

Narayanasamy on the reason for the climbdown in his stand against Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi. He told reporters here that after directing the Congress legislators and party workers to prevent Ms. Bedi from entering their constituencies, the Chief Minister had softened his stand. The Chief Minister had asked his party men not to speak against Ms. Bedi. The Chief Minister should explain to the public the reason for the sudden shift in the government’s approach to the Lieutenant Governor. “Have you both entered into a truce agreement,” he said. Mr. Anbalagan criticised the government for delay in getting seats from private medical colleges. His party workers would lay siege to the offices of Women and Child Development at Saram on Friday to protest against the style of functioning of ruling Congress and Ms. Bedi. The government, due to the year-long turf war with Lt. Governor, was not able to fulfil promises made to voters. The Lt. Governor had been blocking welfare measures and development schemes. The party would lay siege to the office as a mark of protest, he added. Refutes AIADMK charge However, the Chief Minister refused to give a direct reply to a question on the issue at a press conference on Wednesday. Asked about his fiat to MLAs to prevent Ms. Bedi from entering constituencies, the Chief Minister said he had never said so. “I said if she visits without informing the legislators, then they have a right to protest. Like everyone else, the Lt. Governor has a right to move around in Puducherry,” he added.
