Narayanasamy on Thursday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party for trying to get their members in the Legislative Assembly through the back door. Addressing party workers at Thavalakuppam, he said the BJP had lost deposit in 18 constituencies in the last Assembly elections. Now, the party was trying to make its presence in the Assembly by appointing nominated members, he said. Mr. Narayanasamy said Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi had shown her interest in appointing non-politicians as nominated members but she finally paved the way for three BJP members getting appointed as nominated legislators. The BJP was working against the government as Congress had ruling dispensations only in Puducherry and Karnataka in the South. The BJP would not succeed in its efforts to destabilise the Congress governments, he said. The Chief Minister said his government was committed to implement all development work and welfare measures announced in the budget. A sum of ? 4,000 crore would be raised internally, he said. The government had been trying to prevail upon Centre to increase its share of revenue from the existing 27%, he said. Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy, government whip R.K.R.
