Former MP to go on stir in Puducherry

Predicting the downfall of the ruling Congress government in the Union Territory, Former Member of Parliament P. Kannan on Tuesday said he would shortly launch an agitation to expose the misgovernance by the government. Mr. Kannan, who unsuccessfully contested on the AIADMK ticket in the last Assembly elections after quitting the Congress, said at a press conference that the Congress government was an utter failure. Asked whether he was joining the BJP, Mr. Kannan said, “A leader from the party had approached me, but I have not decided.”Mr. Kannan had spoken highly in favour of demonetisation and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “bold decision.”When asked about the opposition by the ruling Congress against the appointment of three BJP leaders as nominated legislators by the Union Government, he said the ruling party had no moral right to question the Centre’s decision.
