The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has rejected a petition filed by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) seeking removal of encroachments in the river basin, saying it would not be appropriate to allow anyone to become homeless in the face of the growing corona epidemic in the country and the state.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has rejected a petition filed by PCMC seeking removal of encroachments in the river basin, saying it would not be appropriate to allow anyone to become homeless in the face of the growing corona epidemic in the country and the state. In the wake of the coronation, the High Court said that almost all the high courts in the country had ordered a similar stay on the settlement. He also clarified that all the interim orders of the High Court will be applicable in both Maharashtra and Goa till October 31.

On June 16, the PCMC had demanded removal of encroachments on rivers in Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal area. Taking note of this, the National Green Arbitration (NGT) had ordered action against the encroachments. A petition has been filed in the High Court on behalf of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation seeking permission to comply with the order.

A four-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta heard the case on Wednesday. But the order is likely to make some citizens homeless during Corona`s difficult times. Therefore, such a breach cannot be allowed. Also, the citizens who will be affected by the demolition have not been made defendants in this suo moto petition. The High Court has also mentioned in its order that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation should give the idea of ??Sumoto order to NGT.

The order to remove the encroachment passed by the court during the Corona period or a similar breach order was adjourned until April 30, while ordering a suo moto petition filed on March 26 against the backdrop of Covid 19. The bench had also directed the concerned authorities in the state to adopt a policy of leniency in taking any such decision at present so as not to cause further inconvenience to the citizens. Referring to the same order, the High Court immediately rejected the demand made by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
