Expect weather to remain cool up to Sat, says IMD

Pune: Officials from India Meteorological Department on Sunday said that night temperatures in the city may remain in the range of 14 to 15 degrees celsius, which is below the normal about two degrees up to November 4.On Sunday, Pashan recorded 13 degrees C night temperature, making it the coolest in the city. NDA recorded 13.8 degrees C and Shivajinagar was 14.5 degrees C, met officials said.Shivajinagars minimum temperature was below the normal by 1.3 degrees C while Lohegaon recorded 16.9 degrees C, which was below normal by 0.1 degrees.The relative humidity in the city is on the higher side and hence one can feel hotter during the daytime.Cooler nights for the past week have made it an atypical October. It was winter-like before the season.It is a kind of tricky weather for the people with not much of fluctuation in the day and night temperatures. But people in the city can enjoy the typical Pune cool weather for the next few days, the met official said.After the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon, the city recorded an increase in day and night temperatures.A senior met official said, There is no weather system over the state at present. Cold northerly winds are blowing into the state and more such winds are likely in the coming days. It will result in a fall in the night temperatures across all meteorological divisions.On Sunday, all the divisions recorded a fall in night temperatures, with Jalgaon being the closest place in the state at 11.6 degrees C, which was below normal by 4.8 degrees.The variations in the night temperatures in the state were recorded between 0.1 degree to 4.8 degrees C.Meanwhile, the officials from the state agriculture department said that the current weather conditions are conducive for rabi crops and vegetables.There is no drastic drop in the night temperatures. It is good for vegetable growth. So you will see a variety of vegetables in large quantities in the market in the coming weeks. The highest maximum temperature recorded on Saturday was 37.0C in Surendranagar, Saurashtra & Kutch.DoPT tells tribunal there is no system of 360 degree appraisal for empanelment of govt officialsThe personnel department of the central government has stated in an affidavit to the Central Administrative Tribunal that there is no system of 360-degree appraisal for empanelment of government officials and no records exist. This comes in response to a case filed by an Indian Forest Service officer who requested records of his empanelment rejection. The Department of Personnel and Training also submitted that there is no such system in the government of India. The introduction of the 360-degree review was aimed at improving the empanelment process by capturing officers qualities of integrity and capability.
