PCMC gets award from urban ministry

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has received the award for The City with the Best Non-Motorized Transport System at the Urban Mobility India Conference 2023 hosted by the ministry of housing and urban affairs. The event was held in Delhi where the civic body was awarded for Non-Motorised (NMT)-friendly Pimple Saudagar Neighbourhood Project.Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh received this award on behalf of the civic body. Nayak dedicated the award to agriculture extensionists and young women professionals working with farmers. She played a role in introducing the drought-tolerant rice variety shahabhagi dhan in India, which has remained popular for eight years. She also contributed to an international seed policy agreement for faster distribution of modern rice varieties.Birdwatching for the urban optimistDespite the pollution and construction in Mumbai, the city still manages to attract a variety of bird species.
