Pune: The RTO on Tuesday released a WhatsApp number and an exclusive email address to register complaint against fleecing by private bus operators during Diwali.TOI had earlier highlighted that there was only a general email address to complain against fleecing by bus operators. One can send a WhatsApp to 8275330101 to report such matters to us, and action will be initiated based on investigation. There is a fixed format for filing these complaints. One has to provide his/her name and mobile number, travel details, the fare which has been charged, the picture of the ticket, the picture of the bus with registration number and make of the bus, whether it is an AC or non-AC, Volvo, sleeper, sitting, semi-sleeper etc. Once a complaint is received, it will be forwarded to the squad inspector, who will be told to investigate the matter, Pune RTO Sanjiv Bhor said.Passengers can send an email to (buscomplaint.rtopunegmail.com) to complain against fleecing by bus operators. As per regulations, private buses can charge 50% more than that of the fare of an MSRTC bus of the same make (AC/non-AC) and going to the same destination. The MSRTC has increased bus fares by 10% recently. We got the new rates a few days ago and been holding meetings with all private bus operators and online platforms like redBus etc, telling them to adhere to the regulations, the official said.Earlier, there was a general email address of the RTO for people to post their complaints. There was no option other than writing an email. People are requested to make use of the same and not to post any irrelevant details on these two new options, another official said. The official added that checks against private buses had already started. So far, around 40 buses had been checked and some fined for various offences, including sealing emergency exits. The official said that checks will become more frequent and stringent as Diwali approaches. This is definitely a good move by the RTO authorities. Finally, there is an easy option of WhatsApp. This system should have been used by the RTO earlier for noting down all kinds of complaints. Everyone uses WhatsApp now unlike emails, Sunil Pant, who plans to travel to Indore by bus a day before Diwali, said.We also published the following articles recentlyMumbai: MSRTC hikes fares in all AC and non-AC buses by 10% from Nov 8 to 27The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced a temporary fare hike of 10% for all buses, including the popular Mumbai-Pune AC Shivneri buses, from November 8 to 27.
