4 in custody till Thursday in jeweller firing case

Pune: A magisterial court in Pune Cantonment on Monday extended the custodial remand of the four accused in the BT Kawade Road firing case till November 23. Bilal Tyagi (34), Honey Walmiki (26), Sagar Kumar (26), all from New Delhi, and Sarfaraz Shaikh (23) of Ramtekdi, who were arrested on November 12 and 13, respectively. Inspector (Crime) Vinay Patankar from the Wanowrie police sought extension of their remand on the ground that they needed to recover the bag containing ornaments and cash Rs10,000 and keys.The bag was snatched from jeweller Pratik Oswal, who was shot at and robbed on BT Kawade Road. The officer said the police also needed to establish the source of the two firearms and eight rounds fired at Oswal during the crime.Assistant public prosecutor Aamrapali Kasture submitted before the court, The police also needed to establish if the firearms were used in any other crimes and needed to recover the mobile phones of the accused and we suspect them to be members of an inter state gang. Anwar is currently receiving treatment at the Karimganj civil hospital.
