Gang of six hacks criminal, attacks aide over old rivalry

Pune: A gang of six men hacked a criminal on police records and attacked his aide with sharp weapons on the terrace of four-storied building Qazi in Ganesh Peth around 12.30am on Monday over an old rivalry.The deceased has been identified as Siddharth Hadge (30). His friend, Somesh Chavan, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Doctors said he was out of danger.The duos friend, Akshay Amrale (29), lodged a complaint in this connection. All of them are residents of Ganesh Peth. The Faraskhana police have identified all the six attackers, including some criminals on police records.Senior inspector Dadasaheb Chudappa said, Hadge had four body offence cases. The police were preparing a proposal to extern him out of the Pune city limits. Our investigations revealed that he had an old rivalry with the attackers. Recently, Hadge had passed some comments against them and they did not take it kindly.He said, Hadge, Chavan and Amrale — all unemployed — were having a chat in front of the Qazi building after dinner on Sunday. At this point, the gang of six men reached there with sharp weapons. On spotting them, Hadge and Chavan ran into the building and to the terrace. Amrale ran to another building.Chudappa said, The assailants followed Hadge and Chavan to the terrace and cornered them before launching a brutal assault on the duo. Hadge succumbed to injuries, while Chavan survived. He is admitted to a private hospital and has been reported to be out of danger. We have identified the six men. The investigation has also revealed that the suspects had a connection with Rafique Shaikh, who provided them with food during the pandemic.Two wanted criminals held, injured in encounter with police in YamunanagarTwo wanted criminals, identified as Krishan and Sagar, were arrested in an encounter with the Haryana police. The criminals, who were wanted in several heinous crimes, were injured during the exchange of fire and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The police recovered two pistols and live rounds from the criminals. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.
