Probe launched as staffer manipulates YCM hospital funds

Pune: The Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital authorities have transferred an employee on contract on the charge of manipulation of funds at the facilitys cash counters and launched a probe for the same. The authorities at the Pimpri Chinchwad civic hospital are yet to uncover details of the total amount siphoned off by the staffer. The employee was posted at the hospitals cash counter since December last year, they said.There are 20-25 cash counters in the hospital. The staffer in question was working at one such counter, Dr Rajendra Wabale, the dean of YCM Hospital, said. Various departments give notes to make payment at the cash counters. Staffers accept the payment and give a confirmation receipt to the person. One copy of the receipt is kept for hospital records. However, during verification, it was found that the said staffer was submitting manipulated receipts for hospital records, he said.Wabale said a detailed inquiry of all cash counters has been ordered, and appropriate action will be taken against those found involved in the fraud.
