80 passengers on Bharat Gaurav train fall ill due to food poisoning

PUNE: Around 80 passengers aboard a Bharat Gaurav Special train from Chennai complained of stomach infections and other complications, possibly due to food poisoning, as the train was about to reach Pune railway station late on Tuesday.Rail officials at Pune station received information about the incident around 10.45 pm. "This train had been booked by a private party for a pilgrimage-related tour to Palitana in Gujarat.It carried roughly 1,000 passengers. We were informed that many passengers experienced dizziness, abdominal pain, vomiting, and loose motions. In response, a team of doctors from the railway hospital, along with doctors from Ruby Hall and other railway officials, were sent to Pune station to provide medical assistance," said Ramdas Bhise, the Divisional Commercial Manager and PRO of the Pune rail division.The train arrived at Pune station at 11.25 pm, and treatment was initiated immediately. "Passengers were taken off the train onto the platform and given treatment. Fortunately, no passengers had to be admitted to hospitals. After receiving treatment, the train, with all passengers, departed from Pune station around 12.30 am," Bhise added.Officials stated that the train was thoroughly checked before departure. "There was no pantry facility on the train. It was reported that passengers received food at Wadi railway station, approximately 180 km from Solapur. We are trying to ascertain the source of the food, as some sources mentioned that donations in the form of food were also received by the passengers. As of now, we know that the food wasnt provided by the railways.
