Five dedicated pvt bus stops in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police have assigned five dedicated pickup spots for private buses to avert traffic congestion and accidents. The bus operators will be penalized if they are found picking up or dropping passengers anywhere else.These pickup spots are Bhakti-Shaktri circle in Nigdi, Tower Line in Talawade, Babar petrol pump in Landewadi, village fair ground in Rupinagar, and village fair ground in Bhosari.The decision was taken to avoid traffic congestion and accidents in the twin cities as the buses stop anywhere for picking and dropping passengers, Bapu Bangar, deputy commissioner of the Pimpri Chinchwad traffic police, told TOI.The Pimpri Chinchwad area witnesses a high number of private buses starting from Nigdi, Talawade, and Bhosari. The police have now banned them from stopping anywhere after they leave from their respective starting points.We have reached out to passengers and appealed to them to board the buses from these five dedicated spots only, the officer said.The police have fined a total of 6,372 heavy vehicles for plying into the No-Entry zones in the twin cities during the busy morning and evening hours in the last month. The collision occurred when the truck, loaded with empty cool drink bottles, rammed into the van. Passers-by tried to rescue the trapped passengers, but they were unable to do so. The bodies were later retrieved by fire and rescue services personnel.
