Three football players flee JSSPS

"JSSPS chief executive officer (CEO) J Tiwari admitted that the three football trainees were missing from the centre. The coach explained, "There is no coordination between JSSPS and the Jharkhand Football Association (JFA), the nodal body of football in the state, to give a chance to budding talents of the centre to play in U14 tournaments. He also admitted that there are some loopholes at JSSPS and needs several measures to clear all hurdles. "Responding to a query on the issue, JFA secretary Ghulam Rabbani said, "JSSPS is not affiliated with JFA and the rules do not allow us to pick players directly for tournaments from the society. However, he said of the three missing boys, two of them, Samu Banra of Chaibasa and Vikas Murmu of Dhanbad , are likely to join Tata Football Academy.

RANCHI: The dream of chief minister Raghubar Das to achieve a high standard in football and the joint project of the state government with and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) - Mission Olympic Gold 2024 - seem to have no end to troubles. Towards realising the dream, the government and CCL jointly set up the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSP) to nurture budding talents in various sport disciplines.Recently, three football players run way from the JSSP's training centre and the girls' soccer coach, Puja Kumari, is considering quitting the centre as her honorarium is only Rs 10,000 per month. The JSSPS, which has huge infrastructure in the form of mega sports complex and an impressive budget of Rs 24 crore per annum, is reportedly unable to handle its responsibilities well.One of the coaches of JSSPS said, on the condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media, that the three footballers left during the Durga Puja celebrations and have not returned since as they believed they have no future in JSSPS. The coach explained, "There is no coordination between JSSPS and the Jharkhand Football Association (JFA), the nodal body of football in the state, to give a chance to budding talents of the centre to play in U14 tournaments."Responding to a query on the issue, JFA secretary Ghulam Rabbani said, "JSSPS is not affiliated with JFA and the rules do not allow us to pick players directly for tournaments from the society. Moreover, Kaushik Das of Ranchi left the centre as his mother is facing health problems, he said.Tiwari said, "I will look into the matter and make an assurance that it would not be repeated again." He also admitted that there are some loopholes at JSSPS and needs several measures to clear all hurdles. "Fund crisis is one and it is creating many problems as the sports department has not cleared Rs 3 crores dues from last year's budget," the CEO added.State sports department secretary Rahul Sharma, however, said, "I have no idea of this issue (fund crisis). I will find it out."Impressed by the infrastructure of JSSPS and the mega sports centre, coal minister Piyush Goyal , during his recent visit to Ranchi, had appreciated the efforts of the Jharkhand government to develop of sports and budding talents.Currently, 344 players are undergoing training under professional coaches in nine sporting events at the sports complex in Hotwar, Ranchi, and managed by the local management committee (LMC) of JSSPS.
