E S’bhum to reward best pandals based on 12 parameters

Jamshedpur: Deputy commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri on Saturday constituted a 10-member committee to inspect the Durga Puja pandals based on 12 parameters, including cleanliness, safety, and eco-friendly features. The best performing pandals would bag the prizes during the Central Peace Committee (CPC) meet scheduled after the Puja.The idea was mooted during the DCs meeting with the members of the Kendriya Durga Puja Samiti (KDPS) and the CPC held on Saturday. There are 325 registered Puja committees and 75 unregistered ones across the district.The panel would submit the report on the pandal visits to the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) by October 27, the DC said.KDPS secretary Ram Babu Singh said,The initiative would encourage the Puja samitis to design theme-based pandals. Besides, it would motivate the organisers to host the festivities in an organised manner and ensure that swachhta and safety are few of the prerequisites met during pandal construction.
