9th century temple abuzz with devotees as Navratri begins

Chatra: The 9th century Ma Bhadrakali temple in Itkhori block of Chatra was flocked by around 8,000 devotees on the first day of Navratri on Sunday. The temple committee confirmed devotees came here not only from different districts of Bihar and Jharkhand but from other states as well.Sources said like every year, hotelier Prabhaw Singh bears the cost to get the entire temple premises and the sanctum sanctorum decorated. They said a five-member team of florists from Kolkata decorated the temple. On Sunday morning, a kalash (vessel) was placed in the sanctum sanctorum after the shringar puja. Starting from January 1, 2024, devotees will not be allowed to enter the shrine if they are wearing inappropriate attire such as ripped jeans, skirts, shorts, or sleeveless clothing. The temple administration has issued an advisory to servitor associations and hotel associations, asking them to spread awareness among their guests about the dress code. Male devotees are advised to wear pants, shirts, churidar-punjabi, or dhoti, while women are advised to wear saris or salwar kameez.
