Ranchi: Dumka-based government school teacher Sapan Kumar Patralekh, who had grabbed Prime Minister Narendra Modis attention for his innovative teaching methods during the lockdown, has accused Deep Narayan Nayak, a teacher from Bengal, for copying his style of teaching and nominating himself for Global Teacher Prize 2023 that carries a prize money of $1 million, without giving him due credit. Nayak, who works at Tilkamanjhi school in Jamuria, Asansol and popularly known as Rastar Master however, rubbished the claims, saying that he has never heard of Patralekh.Patralekh lodged a complaint before chief minister Hemant Soren on Sunday. The prize is organised by UK-based Varkey Foundation in collaboration with Unesco and Dubai Cares, a UAE-based global philanthropic organisation.Patralekh, who was felicitated at Jharkhand Raj Bhavan in April to mark the 100th episode of PMs Mann Ki Baat programme, said, During Covid-19 in 2020, I had turned the walls of the village, where I teach, into blackboards to teach children as this place was not technically equipped for online classes and students and their families didnt have smart phones.I have discovered that Nayak has sent this model claiming it to be his own for the coveted prize. I have formally complained to our CM. He has asked his officials to look into it, he added.Reacting to the allegations, Nayak said, I have not heard of the teacher and his work before. I have been working in this field for several years now, not only in Bengal but also in Jharkhand. Why wasnt this complaint made before? I suspect that they have now raised this because I have been shortlisted for a prestigious prize and my work has touched a chord with the people worldwide.Speaking to TOI, Dumka DC A Dodde said, I have directed the district education department officials to send a formal letter to the officials in West Bengal tomorrow. We also published the following articles recentlyDoes the government have no other work: BJP rubbishes opposition claim of alleged hacking of phonesBJP leader Nalin Kohli questioned the oppositions claim that their phones were hacked by the Indian government, stating that there is no basis to assume this.
