OC suspended over policeman’s death by suicide

Gumla: Officer in-charge (OC) of the Kolebira police station Kumar Indresh was suspended on Saturday by deputy inspector general (DIG) of the South Chhotanagpur-zone Anup Birthare after hawaldar Satyajit Kacchap shot himself dead inside the police vehicle on the police station premises on Thursday. The OC was suspended on charges of negligence in duty as the deceased hawaldar had left the police station with the service Insas rifle on Thursday without permission. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but such incidents are often carried out by Baloch nationalists against workers from other provinces. Balochistan has been plagued by a violent insurgency, with Baloch insurgent groups targeting major projects in the region.
