Ranchi: The state urban development department on Tuesday announced the rollout of Jal Diwali, a special campaign across different municipal bodies in the state under which women self-help groups will be taken to water treatment plants on exposure tours.Scheduled between Tuesday and Thursday, the programme is part of the nationwide campaign by the ministry of housing and urban affairs.Self-help groups functioning under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) will be taken out on tours, the department said in an official statement.In Jharkhand, Jal Diwali will be celebrated across 31 water treatment plants across different municipal bodies from November 7 to 9. The theme of this programme is Water for Women and Women for Water, under which women of SHGs will be taken on tour to the nearest water treatment plant to provide them information about water purification and various processes involving this job. This will help them know about the importance of clean water and also safeguarding waterbodies. The women, in turn, can educate their children and family members, the urban development department stated.
