Giridih police continues operation against cybercriminals, 7 held

After arresting seven cybercriminals on Friday, the Giridih police have on Sunday launched another search operation to nab a few other suspects living across the Giridih – Jamtara and Giridih – Deoghar bordering areas. The district police arrested 7 cybercriminals from different locations in Giridih district on Friday. The department had a tip off that a group of cybercriminals was engaged in committing crime from a particular location at Singhpur village under the Ahilyapur police station of Giridih district on Friday morning. The police department has also recovered 9 mobiles, 12 sim cards, two bikes and other gadgets from them. Meanwhile, a team of police personnel led by the Cyber DSP, Sandeep Suman, visited the spot and looked into the matter. Those arrested have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar, Prakash Kumar, Kundan Kumar, Samir Ansari, Javed Ansari, Sanjid Ansari and Ajit Kumar. While, two of the criminals: Sanjeev and Prakash are the residents of different localities under Giridih district, remaining five are said to be the residents of Deoghar district. All these could be possible because of the Pratibimb web portal, which has helped us procure perfect data and required information about those involved in cybercrime and related activities. Apart from this, we are also using our human sources from different locations for necessary inputs, if needed, said Giridih Superintendent of Police, Deepak Kumar Sharma. During confession, the arrested criminals have revealed that they used to procure online details of the holders of Tata Corporate Credit Cards. After getting relevant information, they tactically ring up the cardholders to find OTP, Password or other necessary information to embezzle or take away their money, SP Sharma said adding that the cybercriminals also used bank accounts of different persons for transaction of theft money. Our operation against the cybercriminals will continue till the end. We have arrested almost 180 cybercriminals over the past four months, he added. Soon after, we reached the suspected site at Singhpur village, we arrested Sanjeev and Prakash red handed. However, both confessed their involvements in many such crimes. On being quizzed, they further revealed required information about their other associates, said Cyber DSP, Sandeep Suman. Based on the information revealed by the duos, we nabbed the others from different places Madhupur, Margomunda and Sarwan police station areas of Deoghar district, Cyber DSP said. Besides, Ahilyapur PS in-charge, Ajay Kumar, SI Shyambabu Rathor, Roushan Kumar, Sawan Kumar Sahu, Sanjay Mukhiyar, Gajendra Kumar, Saket Verma Saurav SUman and Ashutosh Ranjan comprised the police team.
