Surat: In a close shave for six passengers, a tyre of a Ventura Airline aircraft got deflated during landing at the Surat airport on Thursday, which forced the closure of the runway for two hours.The tyre of the aircraft VT-DEV coming from Ahmedabad got deflated at around 8.40pm. Airport officials said all six passengers were safe and none of them suffered any injury.Following the incident, staff from various agencies rushed to the runway to prevent any untoward incident.Surat airport director Rupesh Kumar told TOI, The incident took place with a flight from Ventura Airlines at the time of landing. It is not a tyre burst but deflation. Following the incident, we declared notam till 10.30PM with extended 30 minutes. The flight was directed to the bay after the tyre was changed. Following the incident, Delhi-Surat flight was diverted to Ahmedabad. The flight was included in the fleet only in the beginning of this month. VT-DEV was purchased for Rs 30 crore and was identified as Dev Viman by the operator.The operations resumed later in the night and the runway was made operational at 10:40pm.
