I-T dept unearths Rs 14cr transaction by realtor group

Total deposits in 25.68 crore Jan Dhan accounts crossed Rs 70,000-crore mark and were at Rs 72,834.72 crore on November 23. As of November 9, total deposits in these accounts were Rs 45,636.61 crore. As per the reports, deposits in Jan Dhan accounts across the country soared sharply by around Rs 27,200 crore in just 14 days after the announcement of ban on old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes. The I-T sleuths gathered documentary evidences during the raid conducted at the office and residential premises owned by the realtor group in the last two days. The duo deposited around Rs 2 crore in over 100 Jan Dhan accounts in Patan's Indian Bank.The I-T sleuths on Wednesday raided the offices and residences of the two realtors on Wednesday and seized huge amount of documents and computer data.

Surat: The income-tax (I-T) department has unearthed illegal transactions to the tune of over Rs 14 crore during a search operation on a city-based builder involved in depositing scrapped notes in Jan Dhan accounts in Patan's bank.Sources said that the two city-based realtors are under the I-T scanner for depositing Rs 3.5 crore in Jan Dhan accounts in Patan's bank.Official sources said that one of the realtors transacted Rs 14 crore in cash post-demonitization. The I-T sleuths gathered documentary evidences during the raid conducted at the office and residential premises owned by the realtor group in the last two days. The two realtors from the city had deposited Rs 3.5 crore in scrapped currency notes in 143 Jan Dhan accounts in Patan immediately after demonitization was announced by the central government.Sources said that the I-T department received information against one Jignesh Shah and Amit Shah, residing in Surat, who went all the way to Patan to deposit their black money in the scrapped currency.
