Warangal: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao announced that Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural districts would be renamed Hanamkonda and Warangal districts to facilitate faster growth of the old city of Warangal. Addressing the people after inaugurating the integrated collectorate complex in Hanamkonda on Monday the Chief Minister said "A similar building would be set up either in the Autonagar area or in the Azam Jahi Mills ground which will house offices of all government departments. This building will function as the administrative centre of Hanamkonda district and the proposed building will be for Warangal district administration." Ever since it came into existence in 2016 Warangal Rural district remained without a headquarters and all its offices were operated from Hanamkonda. The Chief Ministers announcement clears the air regarding the fate of these two districts. He said relevant orders would be issued within two or three days. "We have set up smaller districts to ease administration and bring the officials closer to the public. It has caused an administrative reform in the state and aided uninterrupted democracy. However we still have a long way to go and hence there is a need for such changes to be made" he stated. He also said the collectors bungalow which is in a dilapidated state would be demolished to expand the integrated collectorate complex. He said he was not entirely happy with the new collectorate as there were much better ones in other districts. "By including the area of the adjacent collectors bungalow more amenities like lawns and a helipad can be accommodated. The collectors residence may be constructed elsewhere" he opined.
