VARANASI: Chaotic situation gripped the Ghazipur district jail on Thursday when prisoners went on rampage and indulged in brick batting . They also held two persons captive including a jail staff and worker engaged in CCTV camera installation. The police had to toil hard to bring the situation under control. Police force has been deployed in the jail to avert any untoward incident. The district magistrate ha deputed the ADM (sadar) to conduct a probe into the matter.According to reports, the commotion occurred during the checking and installation of CCTV cameras in the barracks. The prisoners indulged in brick batting and slogan shouting . According to eye witness sound of firing was also heard. The prisoners were also seen holding LPG cylinders in their hands.The DM K Balaji and SP Yashvir Singh along with heavy police force reached jail after getting information. The prisoners went back to the barracks after talks with the officials. The DM denied any incident of firing by police to control the situation. He told TOI over phone that the prisoners had some grievances related to food and health facilities . He said that the situation is under control, and the matter would be investigated by the ADM (sadar).
