UP Woman killed by sisterinlaw in Ballia

VARANASI: A 45-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death with an iron rod by her sister-in-law at Srikanpur village in Revati area of Ballia district in the early morning on Saturday. The matter is being investigated.According to reports, the woman Nirmala Devi , wife of Suresh Gond , had gone to the field when her sister-in-law Geeta Devi , wife of Nanhak Gond, allegedly attacked her with an iron rod. It appeared that there was some instantaneous reason that led to this incident, she said adding that further investigation is underway. She sustained multiple injuries on her head and died on the spot.The police reached the village after getting information and arrested Geeta from her house. The police arrested the accused and sent her to jail.

On the complaint of Suresh the police lodged an FIR against Geeta under section 302 (murder) of IPC.Ballia SP Sriparna Gongulee said that in initial investigation no land dispute came to light in the joint family of six brothers. It appeared that there was some instantaneous reason that led to this incident, she said adding that further investigation is underway.
