Seer in ICU plan for Ayodhya march still on

Varanasi: Days before he was to lead a march to lay the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Shankaracharya of Jyotish and Sharda Dwarka Peeth, Swaroopanand Saraswati, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Banaras Hindu University’s SSL Hospital after he complained of difficulty while breathing on Thursday. Doctors are closely monitoring his health and have reported an improvement,” he added.“If the need arises, we would start the march to Allahabad a day later, instead of February 17,” Avimukteshwaranand added. In his statement, Mishra said that that the seer’s condition was currently stable and senior doctors were monitoring his health.Avimukteshwaranand said that he had talked to the seer in the ICU and the latter made it very clear there would be no change in the plan to march to Ayodhya.“The decision to leave for Ayodhya from Allahabad on February 17 for laying the foundation of a temple at Ram Janambhoomi site had been taken at Param Dharm Sansad hosted by the Shankaracharya at the Kumbh Mela ground on January 30. The doctors at the Varanasi hospital immediately admitted him to the ICU.SSL Hospital’s medical superintendent Prof Vijay Nath Mishra formed a six-member team of senior doctors to monitor the seer’s condition.As per the medical bulletin issued by Mishra on Friday evening, Saraswati is afebrile but is still coughing.His CT scan showed pneumonic patches, while his diagnosis also indicates a urine infection. Doctors on Friday said that though the seer was still in ICU but his condition was now stable.The seer was taken to Varanasi from Allahabad, where he was camping at the Kumbh Mela ground.Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati’s disciple Swami Avimukteshwaranand said that the plan to march to Ayodhya from Allahabad on February 17 was still intact.On February11, Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati had announced that he would march along with other seers to Ayodhya on February 17 from Allahabad and would the foundation of a temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi site on February 21.As per reports, the Shankaracharya’s health deteriorated at his camp on the Kumbh Mela ground on Thursday and he was rushed to the BHU hospital in an ambulance.
