The proposed VCR Park, to focus on cancer research was intended to reduce the cancer-care cost across the spectrum, Dr. Mandar Kulkarni, Chief Scientific Officer, of Elixsys told the stakeholders, including eminent global scientists, researchers, academicians, doctors, tech start-ups and venture capitalists at the inaugural of the Global Innovation Forum, 2018 (TGIF) summit here. He spoke on how a comprehensive cancer related eco-system was not only needed but was the only way to bend the cost curve and make cancer care affordable in India and around the world. Delivering the keynote address, eminent cancer specialist Dr. SewaLegha, from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas, USA, spoke about the cutting edge technologies and future cancer research and treatment paradigms in the context of multifaceted technological landscape. Dr. Edus Warren, Director of Global Oncology, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Institute, Seattle, Washington, USA spoke. on the prospects of collaborative development of the cancer immunotherapy for India. The panel discussion on private public partnerships to create a common knowledge base to build research consortia was led by Dr. Willaim Selvamurthy, President of Amity Science, Tech and Innovation Foundation, New Delhi. CEO of AP Innovation Society Valli Kumari, Andhra University Vice Chancellor G Nageswara Rao, Dean-in charge of School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad Pallu Reddanna and Director of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital D. Raghunadha Rao were among those who spoke. An International delegation from Russia and Belarus, under leadership of Dr. S Subramanian, Founder and CEO of Eurasian Federation of Oncology and Dr. Alla Molchanova, from National Academy of Sciences, Minsk, Belarus, provided an overview of Cancer Care and Research in Russia and former Soviet Republics and how they were seeking collaboration with private -public partnerships with AP and other states in India.
