Telugu Dandu president Paravastu Phanisayana Suri expressed his anguish at the state of Telugu in Andhra Pradesh and hoped the announcement of the year as ‘Telugu Bhasha Vikasa Samvatsaram’ would result in some concrete action. Deputy regional manager Shailendra Kumar and official language manager G. Vijay Kumar participated. Participating as chief guest in the celebrations organised by Visakha Sahiti and the Telugu Department, she felt that the responsibility of protecting mother language was the responsibility of youth.

Former member of UPSC K.S. Chalam, Prof. Visweswaram, teacher union leader Simhadrappadu, Jaladi Vijaya, Tirupati Rajamannar and Arun Kumar participated. Training At the Bank of Baroda Regional Officer, deputy general manager M. Seshagiri Rao said the bank launched a unique initiative of training for staff to render better customer service. Faculty of St. Joseph College for Women P.K. Jayalakshmi addressed the meeting. Deputy regional manager Shailendra Kumar and official language manager G. Vijay Kumar participated. Poetry recitation Poetry recitation and ‘rupakam’ marked the celebration at Sri T.V.S. Rao Sri Krishna Vidya Mandir. Theatre personality Meegada Ramalinga Swamy and principal T.V. Nageswari Devi participated. At Andhra University Rector K. Gayatri Devi said conversing in the mother tongue would help in protecting the language.
